About:
A new Christian service program is developing in our parish and in parishes throughout our nation. It is entitled Walking with Moms in Need and originated from the encyclical inspiration of Evangelium Vitae (The Gospel of Life) as put forth by Pope St. John Paul II in 1995. In this document, the Pope reaffirmed the Church’s constant teaching on the value and inviolability of every human life. In part, he said,
“We need to question how widespread is the culture of life today among individual Christians, families, groups, and communities in our Dioceses. With equal clarity and determination, we must identify the steps we are called to take in order to serve life in all its truth.”
Purpose:
The focus of Walking with Moms in Need is to become our “brothers’ (and sisters’) keepers” in the sense of looking for, and looking out for, pregnant and parenting moms and families. Either by observation or discrete questioning, such people can be identified by us, and advised of the Walking with Moms in Need program in our Parish.
The inventory of services is broad, and presently includes, but is not limited to:
